Okay, here it is, the Filminati Pick for May
Northfork
I picked this for a few reasons.
1.) I think it's a very under-the-radar type of movie. It's a truly independent film, by the Polish Bros. (who also brought you the strange Twin Falls, Idaho. I'm hoping there are several of you who haven't yet seen it.
2.) It's very strange and different. I think that several of you will hate it. There is also a ton of symbolism and double meaning.
3.) I find it one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen, and it always elicits some tears for me.
So enjoy! I do hope you guys like it, and I hope we get some good discussion out of it!

I'd never seen or heard of it. In fact, I question whether I'll be able to rent it.
What an interesting mish-mosh of a cast! Let's hope I can get it cause I'm looking forward to it.
Cool. One of those movies I have been meaning to see.
Looney, I'm so sorry I never replied do your email! Kudos on the choice, though, because I've never seen it and, like Paticus, kept meaning to. Yay!
Never heard of it, but am looking forward to watching.
The Ebert review sounds promising.
Well, I sure hope my local BBuster has this. I love Nolte and Woods, so this one's bound to captivate.
I browsed through the reviews of Northfork at Rotten Tomatoes - it was quite a mix of thumbs up and down. I'm guessing I will like it because it sounds like a film freak's film.
None of the bricks and mortar shops near me have this, but after I finish The Aristocrats I should get it from NF in a few days.
Oh, man, let me know what you thought of Aristocrats when you're finished!
Has everyone been able to locate it? Just curious...
I found it online for sale, but my local BBuster doesn't have it, and I'm not a netflixer. I'll try a couple more BBusters in my area.
No, I haven't been able to find it either. Will keep working on it.
Dagnabbit. I didn't consider it'd be that hard to find :-(
Hmmmm.... I wasn't very excited about this film the first time I saw it, but I will try to open my mind and heart and watch it again.
Oh, and Looney, thanks for the heads up on my blog. Sometimes I just need a reminder.
Hey, guys. Sorry I missed the first film but I'm like 12 kinds of excited to see this one and jump in the fray.
Never even heard of this movie, but the trailer was.... interesting.
Found it at my local Blockbuster, yay! I'll be watching sometime this weekend.
I watched it this weekend, and I will admit, I HAD to watch it twice. The first time through, I agree...I was mesmerized by the isolated and beautiful scenery, picked up on some of the subtle humor...the "duck"..."duck"......"goose" feather inspection...(you could see that one coming), and was haunted by Irwin and the scene where his foster parents "give him back". All of the graveyards scenarios stayed with me, and I kept finding myself trying to figure out...it this real, or imagined ...or a dream...Yes, maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to unravel all of the symbolism...but I have found myself thinking about it time and time again since my second viewing, something that rarely happens with popular movies "in the local theatres".
Ney, nony, you're not supposed to discuss until tomorrow!!! :-)
See you then...
