We pick films. We watch films. We talk about films. We're that cool.

M3 2008: Zeppo Region, Round 1, 2nd Half
SCORES: Raising Arizona 13, Harold and Maude 4 It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World 15, Withnail and I 2 Caddyshack 15, Up in Smoke 2 It Happened One Night 13, Little Miss Sunshine 4
Jeez, Joe, if you and I were gay I'd probably be taking you to the fucking movies (just not a George Clooney flick!) I love the Coen Bros. as much as anyone, but Harold and Maude is fucking brill. Too many people looked at that and said "Jeepers, I saw RA a long time ago and never saw H&M and RA is, like, a higher number, so it must be betterer..."
This is where I was pretty sure I'd get screwed, because I had my all-time favorite film Withnail and I going nearly the distance. Arguably the greatest British dark comedy ever made, and it's based on real people, too. I didn't expect that many people have seen it, and the vote confirms that. Still, I had to go with my heart.
Oh, and H&M is wonderful, sweet, and/or oddball funny throughout, but it's just not as riproariously funny as AZ, which is also A LOT more oddball. Wasn't a tough pick for me.

Or it could be that we're NOT morons and just thought Raising Arizona was really funny and worthy of voting for. *shrug*
I think Holly Hunter is a fine comedic actress. People tend to focus on how great she is at doing the funny accent, but I love the way she reacts to whoever else is in the scene. This movie is a great example.

Evidently, you were like me - sometimes voting for the funnier film, and sometimes voting for the BETTER film. Like I said, I MIGHT have seen RA, but it wasn't memorable. H & M wasn't forgettable from the first time I saw it. Wasn't a tough pick for me, either.

Well, I've spoken to some Harvard Economists about it, and they say no, that couldn't be. They say you obviously voted for RA because Keith Olbermann is a traitor.

Harold and Maude loses? That's just plain stupid.

Jeeeeez...
It's funny you say that, Looney, because I may have seen RA long ago, but don't remember. H & M is a movie I'd NEVER forget!
I've seen exactly 4 of these films (and yes I still made picks). I think this was the hardest bracket for me b/c of that.
That was me, Eden. I'm showing as logged in but why I'm suddenly anon, I have no idea.

I feel the same way...except the opposite. Harold & Maude was just not that memorable for me. Raising Arizona? I quote from it at least once a week.
